A business has to provide services locally to customers to be eligible to appear on Google Maps.
1. See if your listing has been added already
There are situations in which you may find your business already placed on Google Maps. In this case, all you need to do is claim it as yours. Go to Google Maps.
2. Type the name of your business in the search bar (see screenshot).
3. If you find your business, click on the name then click “claim this business.”
4. If you do not find your business, go to Google My Business.
Type your information into the form on the left. Make sure to fill out the entire form, including business category, as this will help customers find you.
5. Select whether your business delivers goods to customers at their location.
A category of businesses that this would apply to are home based businesses or delivery services with no storefront.
6. Click “I am authorized to manage this business” and click continue. Choose your verification process, which is usually by mail.
Congratulations, you’re on your way to increased search visibility. You should see a dashboard in which you can add your hours of operation, and photos of your business. A postcard should arrive at your business within 1-2 weeks with instructions on how to verify your listing.
